Although being one of the more popular tracks in the UK and a music video being played regularly on UK music channels, the single was cancelled[why?] and was not released in the UK or Ireland and charted outside of top 100 in UK Singles Chart due to leakage only. It was released as a double A-side single with "Queen of My Heart" which was their ninth UK number-one. It was re-released in 2001 with its single remix included on the group's third studio album World of Our Own (2001). In 2019, the single charted in Ireland and peaked at number 20, giving Westlife their 28th top-20 hit in Ireland.

"When You're Looking Like That" along with "I Lay My Love on You" were not released in the United Kingdom. In an interview with Westlife, Feehily said that the main reason behind it was because they had not had as much exposure in Asia and Australia.[4] It is their sixth-most-streamed song in the UK and appears in 20th place overall with 276,000 (as of 12 January 2019) units via streaming and downloads only.[5]

Løvland composed an instrumental piece in 2002 and titled it "Silent Story". He later approached Irish novelist and songwriter Brendan Graham to write the lyrics to his melody, after reading Graham's novels. The song was performed for the very first time at the funeral of Løvland's mother.[1][2] The original designated vocalist was Johnny Logan, who recorded a demo with an orchestra. However, the vocalist was changed due to a desire to distance the album from the Eurovision Song Contest, in which all three men were known for their success: Logan had won twice as a performer and twice as a composer; Løvland had won once as a performer and twice as a composer: and Graham had won twice as a composer.

In 2002, it was released on the Secret Garden album Once in a Red Moon, with the vocals sung by Irish singer Brian Kennedy, and sold well in both Ireland and Norway. Originally, Brian Kennedy was supposed to follow Secret Garden on their Asian tour in 2002, but Curb records couldn't come to an agreement with Universal to release Brian, and he reluctantly could not attend the tour. He was replaced by Norwegian singer Jan Werner Danielsen, who also later recorded the song together with Secret Garden. A demo version of this recording was released in 2010, on Danielsen's posthumous compilation album One More Time - The Very Best Of, which included several previously unpublished recordings.

Groban performed the song at Super Bowl XXXVIII, in a special NASA commemoration for the crew of the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. A special surprise performance by Groban, for Oprah Winfrey's 50th birthday, also gave "You Raise Me Up" international prominence. On 25 April 2007, Groban also performed it at the first Idol Gives Back Concert, along with the African Children's Choir. This version was released as a single and peaked at No. 76 on the Billboard Hot 100. He performed this version with the African Children's Choir again on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on 10 August 2007.

On 26 May 2007, Josh Groban appeared on BBC's talent show Any Dream Will Do to select one of the remaining contestants (or "Josephs") to perform the song with him. He chose show favourite and eventual winner Lee Mead, whilst the other four contestants (Lewis Bradley, Craig Chalmers, Ben Ellis, and Keith Jack) performed as backing singers. Following this, the solo version of "You Raise Me Up" charted in the UK at No. 74, making it his first chart entry there.

"You Raise Me Up" was released as the lead single from Westlife's sixth studio album Face to Face. This version is one of the most successful covers of the song, peaking at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart,[23] the only version to do so. This was the band's 13th number-one single as well as the first single to be released following Brian McFadden's departure from the group. It debuted with 97,288 combined physical and download sales in the UK alone.[24] The single has sold 600,000 copies in the UK so far.[25] In South Korea, it entered the Official South Korean Year-end Downloads Singles Chart in 2010 with 130,759 sales.[26] Later, it stayed in the top 75 of the Official International Karaoke Charts since the inception of the charts in December 2010 up to its recent chart released.[27]

Westlife's official music video for "You Raise Me Up" was directed by Alex Hemming. It is currently the most-played version on YouTube with over 100 million views as of July 2021.[29] The 4K version of the music video has been released on Westlife' official YouTube channel.[30] It is also their most-streamed single of all time with 19.7 million listens in the United Kingdom as of January 2019. It is the band's third best selling single of all-time on both paid-for and combined sales categories.[31] While it is their eighth most streamed song of all time from their home country, the Republic of Ireland, as of 2 April 2019. It is the second best-selling single of 2005 in Ireland.

Before they were called Westlife, they'd settled on Westside but another band had that name so they were forced to change. But that's not the only time they've switched things around. When performing together before Nicky and Brian joined, the rest of the band called themselves IOYOU. Even further back, Kian, Shane and Mark were in a pop band with three other local lads and named themselves Six Of One.

One of our favourite Westlife facts and a full on throwback - they teamed up with Cadbury to release their own chocolate bar. Released in 2001, the Wispa bar was transformed to feature the name of each member carved into it. What more could anyone want?

If you've ever seen Brian McFadden's name spent with a "y" and felt confused, you're not the only one. Brian's was born with an "I" is his name but when he joined Westlife, he found it easier to sign autographs with a "y" in his name instead. Odd, right? After he left Westlife, Brian changed his name back to the original spelling. Strange but true!

Mark famously owns a catering van! When he was speaking about his slight change in career, he called it a "side project" and said "it's a street food van. We bought an old Citroen H working van. We refurbished it and catered it out with all the stuff you need inside it, so we're available to do bar mitzvahs and weddings."

All the members of Westlife are married or with a partner and they all have children. Shane has three children wife his wife with Nicky also being a dad to three. Brian has two daughters with Kerry Katona. Kian has three sons and Mark and his partner had baby Layla with a surrogate in 2019.

Not content with selling millions of records, performing to crowds all around the world and having their own chocolate bar, Westlife have released their own fragrance range. Like any celebrity worth their salt in the 00s, Westlife came out with two perfumes called "With Love" and the simply named "Westlife".

Loads! Although many will know them for their Billy Joel cover, Westlife have achieved multiple No.1 hits with original tracks such as Swear It Again, If I Let You Go, Flying Without Wings, Fool Again, and My Love.

In 2011, Westlife stunned fans by announcing that they would announce they would split up following one last world tour, with all band members agreeing that it was amicable, and that the band had run its course.

When the news broke in 2018 that the band were getting back together again, speculation was rife that McFadden would rejoin for their reunion tour. However, fans hopes were dashed as McFadden revealed in an interview with Lorraine Kelly that he had never been asked, and he was quite happy doing his own thing.
